One Christmas when Bill was a boy, his stepfather gave him and his siblings an unusual gift: stock in Genesee Brewery. Bill was intrigued. And the rest is history. Today, he has more than 30 years of top management experience including SEC reporting, annual report preparation, financial statement preparation and analysis, tax preparation, corporate controllership, management of operating and capital budgets totaling more than $200 million, budgeting, and management consulting.
His time at Whitney & Company began in 1993, and he took the reins of the firm in 1995 from founder Bill Whitney. Since then, he’s grown the firm with one guiding principle: Helping people get through their financial life without worry by helping them to be successful. Bill believes deeply in always doing what is best for the client, irrespective of how it affects the firm.
Bill also believes it’s important, as one becomes successful, to give back to help other people be successful. That’s why he’s served the community in numerous ways through the years, including on the Boards of The Aquinas Institute and Heritage Christian Services. He is currently the Chairman of the Episcopal Senior Living Foundation and a member of the Aquinas Institute Hall of Fame.
A St. John Fisher College graduate who holds a B.S. in accounting, Bill has completed the Executive Development Program at Rochester Institute of Technology. He’s a member of the New York State Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.
He enjoys spending time with family—including his wife of 36 years, boating on Canandaigua Lake, golfing, and, of course, reading up on financial news.
